Where's the records room?

Dammit!  The word "patient" does not describe me in any sense of the word.  So today I called MD Anderson to see if they have everything and they don't.  So no appointment tomorrow - they are going to try and squeeze me in for Thursday now or next Tuesday at the latest because they have to have all the records, scans, slides and such from Methodist to give me a second opinion.

Soooooo frustrating - luckily our friend at Methodist is pushing to get all the records pushed over to MD Anderson today - but it is too late to get in for an appointment tomorrow.  My patient advocate at MD will call me later today and let me know if things moved - she was going to put a priority on the request from her end again to Methodist.  I called and resubmitted the request on my end and we know that was received from our Methodist contact so I think we are on the right track.  I was hoping they could get us in tomorrow, then do the three tests we need (bone marrow biopsy, this is spinal tap and the pet scan) and be pumping that toxic chemo into me by Friday.

But it is all hurry up and wait again - the pain was so bad this weekend, we were thinking of begging to just go in the hospital now and just get the tests done. ARGH.

If I don't have good news by this PM I will drive over to the records room and get the damn records and walk them over to MD Anderson myself.

On the plus side - I will get my teeth cleaned on Wednesday which we have seen is kind of key going into chemo and they can help you prep for any mouth related issues. And I have my first acupuncture appointment as well.  Acupuncture you say? Yes - in our research of surviving chemo, we found that acupuncture actually does help with handling some e of the side effects of chemo so why the heck not right?  We will have every advantage my friends - even if it is a little out there.  We still have to reschedule our Reiki appointment to get the bad energy OUT!

They call me Complete Remission

Not even kidding.  Below are the scans. The one on the left is me riddled with cancer in February -the one on the right is  me today in comp lete remission. This doesn't mean I am cured - it just means that after two cycles of treatment we saw " a diminution of the seriousness or intensity of disease or pain; a temporary recovery."   So now we go for the cure. Note - there is nothing going on in the brain (joke intended), nothing going on in the spine and nothing going on in the lymph nodes.  Yes, we have no cancer.  Even the doc was a little surprised at how well my body responded to the treatment.  For all those who worked so hard to keep my spirits up - it worked. To the prayer warriors around the country who kept lifting us up in your prayers - it worked.  Team Saba has a huge victory today and we thank you all.  We are still going in for Chemo #3 but it got delayed since my body has not fully recovered from all the other crap that has been pumped into it. I have eyebrows dammit!!!

What a great feeling to have hair growing in the right places now!  Eyebrows, eyelashes and hair on my head all coming in nicely. Hard to believe that it has only been a month since chemo ended - because things are so normal. On Friday I actually got my first full paycheck since February - now that's a good feeling! Based on all I read and heard from others, I am way ahead of the game on recovery working 8 hour days and doing very well.  Every so often I get a feeling like chemo side effects but then it goes away.  So other than that I am doing great. Side note on the blood work - the webisphere was correct - cranberry juice does help the kidneys but my platelet count went down. The only thing on my blood work that went down - I was still in the good range so no big deal, but important thing to note. And it's probably good that the beach house is rented through August - we won't be able to use it until Labor Day weekend - so guy recovering from cancer just died from

This is Spinal Tap!

Most people get a 10 spinal tap - I got an 11. Actually called a Lumbar Puncture but where's the fun in that.  And I have to admit that sounds bad - who wants their lumbar punctured. Anywho - sorry about the semi depressing post yesterday - got a little overwhelmed by the enormity of the task at hand for a few hours.  Plus the exhaustion -but a friend reminded me that thank God we live here with MD Anderson who can make all that happen in just two days. Felt really good this morning.  I know so many of you have put me in your prayers and thoughts -and I can/t help but believe when I wake up feeling good that it is those thoughts and prayers giving me that much needed boost -so thank you for that. Love you all. So we are set for tomorrow - LET THE CHEMO BEGIN!
