Sleep - Wednesday can't come soon enough

Doc O the Day just flew by and said yes - I am doing great and things are on track to get me out on Wednesday. Oh glorious Wednesday. I can sleep in my own bed not hooked to some fucker and not getting blood drawn at 4:00 AM.  And they can't use the ports installed in my arm because the chemo would affect the blood sample. So they have to stick me twice a day to ensure I look like a proper heroin addict right about now. Add the blood thinner they inject in my stomach before dinner and wow - I love the needles.

But I feel OK. And blood work looks good -
White blood cells - 7.9   should be between 4-11
Red blood cells are low - 3.69 should be 4.5-6
Platelets - 304 should be between 140-440
Hemoglobin - 9.9 should be 14-18

But nothing to worry about - all is on track. And I am still good for Wednesday. The change of chemo happened later this morning at 3:30 and actually should be starting at 6:00 this morning so I could, in theory, get some sleep.

Bruce Willis movie last night in Death Wish - not worth it but enough to veg to.  Working on a new author Joe Ide - interesting hero. Working 4 hours today.

Two more nights.  Two more nights. Must poop.

    Behind the Scenes from Christine:
    - Headphones ended up in prune juice while he attempted some work today (hilarious moment)
    - Lee & Christine attended a class today about learning to clean the ports. Gag... almost threw up and accidentally went a little heavy on the squeeze of saline or fluids during demonstration that it shot straight into the air and mom laughed so hard she almost peed her pants. First timer on those syringes and this is tough stuff.

    All in all a good day. Dad's KILLIN it.

They call me Complete Remission

Not even kidding.  Below are the scans. The one on the left is me riddled with cancer in February -the one on the right is  me today in comp lete remission. This doesn't mean I am cured - it just means that after two cycles of treatment we saw " a diminution of the seriousness or intensity of disease or pain; a temporary recovery."   So now we go for the cure. Note - there is nothing going on in the brain (joke intended), nothing going on in the spine and nothing going on in the lymph nodes.  Yes, we have no cancer.  Even the doc was a little surprised at how well my body responded to the treatment.  For all those who worked so hard to keep my spirits up - it worked. To the prayer warriors around the country who kept lifting us up in your prayers - it worked.  Team Saba has a huge victory today and we thank you all.  We are still going in for Chemo #3 but it got delayed since my body has not fully recovered from all the other crap that has been pumped into it. I have eyebrows dammit!!!

What a great feeling to have hair growing in the right places now!  Eyebrows, eyelashes and hair on my head all coming in nicely. Hard to believe that it has only been a month since chemo ended - because things are so normal. On Friday I actually got my first full paycheck since February - now that's a good feeling! Based on all I read and heard from others, I am way ahead of the game on recovery working 8 hour days and doing very well.  Every so often I get a feeling like chemo side effects but then it goes away.  So other than that I am doing great. Side note on the blood work - the webisphere was correct - cranberry juice does help the kidneys but my platelet count went down. The only thing on my blood work that went down - I was still in the good range so no big deal, but important thing to note. And it's probably good that the beach house is rented through August - we won't be able to use it until Labor Day weekend - so guy recovering from cancer just died from

This is Spinal Tap!

Most people get a 10 spinal tap - I got an 11. Actually called a Lumbar Puncture but where's the fun in that.  And I have to admit that sounds bad - who wants their lumbar punctured. Anywho - sorry about the semi depressing post yesterday - got a little overwhelmed by the enormity of the task at hand for a few hours.  Plus the exhaustion -but a friend reminded me that thank God we live here with MD Anderson who can make all that happen in just two days. Felt really good this morning.  I know so many of you have put me in your prayers and thoughts -and I can/t help but believe when I wake up feeling good that it is those thoughts and prayers giving me that much needed boost -so thank you for that. Love you all. So we are set for tomorrow - LET THE CHEMO BEGIN!
